Dutch singer Glennis Grace is named Best Singer of The Netherlands


Glennis Grace is named Best Singer of The Netherlands. The Dutch public voted for her second time in a row. Grace, who was born to a Dutch mother and a Dutch Caribbean father (from Curaçao), was named Best Singer on September 29 during the presentation of the Buma NL Awards. The prizes are awarded since last year in collaboration with Dutch broadcaster TROS and Buma Cultuur to promote Dutch music culture.

Glennis is very pleased and hounered to receive the prize: "Because this Buma NL Award is a public Award my appreciation is even greater. Besides, this is the best compliment you can get from your fans and gives me more motivation for the upcoming period. "

The year 2011 can be descibed as golden year for the singer. She received a Golden record for her number one hit “Afscheid” ("Goodbye"), and her new album One Night Only has almost reached platinum.

Trivia. Glennis Grace (33), real name Glenda Batta, represented The Netherlands in the European Song Contest in 2005. She is married to a Moroccon-Dutch boxer.
